SBC/BellSouth Reduces Review to 4

ATLANTA—An executive at Bates Worldwide said the agency is no longer involved in the review for the $185-250 million SBC Communications/BellSouth consolidated wireless account. No further details were provided, and a representative of Wanamaker, the Atlanta consultancy conducting the review, had no comment. The New York shop’s withdrawal leaves incumbents WestWayne, Atlanta, and GSD&M, Austin, Texas, competing against BBDO South and Grey Worldwide, both New York.
