- Zyan Communications Launches Review
LOS ANGELES--National Internet service provider Zyan Communications has initiated a review for an agency to help it grow from 34 markets to 75 in the next year. The company is looking at agencies billing a minimum of $100 million, preferably in Southern California. Incumbent Campbell-Ewald Advertising, Los Angeles, will participate. Billings were not disclosed, but ISPs typically spend $10-20 million annually. Select Resources International, Los Angeles, is conducting the search.
- FCB Wins Enterprise Networks Group
SAN FRANCISCO--FCB Worldwide here was selected as national agency for Enterprise Networks Group, a spinoff of Lucent Technologies that is scheduled to launch later this year. The decision was made following a review that included several other undisclosed shops. The account is worth $50 million. The client will provide technology for Fortune 500 businesses, primarily in the realm of networking and communications.
- EarthLink Shifts Account to TBWA\Chiat\Day
LOS ANGELES--EarthLink Networks transferred its estimated $50 million account to TBWA\Chiat\Day from BBDO West. Sources said the company is centralizing ad duties following its alliance earlier this year with Apple Computer. TBWA\C\D, Playa del Rey, Calif., is Apple's agency of record.
- Nike Debuts Third 'Mrs. Jones' Spot
LOS ANGELES--Nike has debuted the third TV spot in its "issue" series starring world champion sprinter Marion Jones. In the spot, Jones reprises her role as disc jockey "Mrs. Jones" and talks about the inequity of pay in sports for women compared to men. The first two Jones spots broke earlier this month. Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, Ore., handles the account.
- Specialty Brands Picks Campbell Mithun Esty
LOS ANGELES--Specialty Brands, Riverside, Calif., handed Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis, its $8-11 million ad account for a new line of Mexican foods called Josƒ Olƒ. Other finalists included Euro RSCG Tatham, Chicago, and DDB, Dallas.
- Hamon & Stern Adds Singapore Airlines
LOS ANGELES--Hamon & Stern Communications here won Singapore Airlines' U.S. advertising account after a review that included several undisclosed agencies on the East and West coasts. The move comes after the airline's global agency, Singapore-based The Batey Group, decided to close its service office here effective May 31 in order to concentrate on Asia and Australia. The carrier's U.S. advertising spending is estimated at $7 million-plus.
- TSR Advertising Wins Oddzon
NEW YORK--TSR Advertising was awarded the ad account of Oddzon, a division of Hasbro. Oddzon, Napa Valley, Calif., markets sports and toy brands such as Nerf, Vortex, Tinker Toys and Koosh. The agency, with offices in New York and Carlsbad, Calif., will handle strategic and creative development and execution. The media budget is estimated at $10-15 million.
