Stride Rite to Launch Levi Shoe Line





SAN FRANCISCO--Stride Rite Corp. has struck a deal with Levi Strauss & Co. to create a line of casual leather shoes. The footwear line will be designed to match Levi's clothing. Foote, Cone & Belding's San Francisco office is expected to create advertising to support the line. That agency handles the Levi account as well as Stride Rite's Keds shoe business.





Lambesis Opens New York Office to Serve Client





LOS ANGELES--Del Mar, Calif.-based Lambesis has opened a New York office to handle account responsibility for two fragrance brands marketed by Stamford, Conn.-based Dana Fragrance. The client intends to spend more than $4 million to launch one of the brands. Creative responsibilities will continue to be handled out of the Del Mar office.





Onward and Upward





Rae Callendar has been promoted to general manager of Poppe Tyson Interactive in Mountain View, Calif., a new division of Poppe Tyson. Previously he was president of Animated Systems and Design in Palo Alto, Calif., which Poppe Tyson recently acquired. . . John Meyer has been named creative director at Wunderman Cato Johnson's San Francisco office. Previously he was a group creative director at Hill Holliday Direct, a division of Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston. . . Alain Zutter has been named group media director and Len Weise has been appointed account director at Euro RSCG Dahlin Smith White's San Francisco office.





Another Shop Joins Daewoo Review





LOS ANGELES-- The Mandala Agency in Bend, Ore., has joined the list of contenders for the estimated $10 million Daewoo Motors Western regional account. The decision date has been pushed back to May. An undisclosed consultant has been hired to help with the review process, according to sources.

Ground Zero in Santa Monica, Calif., has recently completed a new campaign to promote Major League Soccer for its clients ESPN and espn2. . . Seattle agency Wongdoody is unveiling its first national television campaign for the Stanely Cup Playoffs on Fox Television. Advertisements break this week. . . Stimson Lane Wineries in Woodinville, Wash., has transferred its $3-4 million account from BBDO in Los Angeles to Elgin DDB in Seattle. Both agencies are owned by parent Omnicom Group in New York.





For the Record





The April 21 issue of Adweek incorrectly reported that the review for the Dole Packaged Food Co. account includes the ready-made salad line. In fact, ready-made salads are part of Dole's fresh vegetables account, which is not in review.
