NEW YORK Hilton Hotels has selected WPP Group's Young & Rubicam to handle creative duties on its estimated $40-50 million Hilton brand account, the client has confirmed.
Media duties were awarded to Omnicom Group's OMD in Playa del Rey, Calif., the client said.
The other creative finalists were Omnicom's TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York and GSD&M in Austin, Texas, Interpublic Group's McCann Erickson in New York and the incumbent, IPG's Foote Cone & Belding, which pooled resources from three offices: Irvine, Calif., Chicago and New York, according to sources.
The client said the creative assignment for its HHonors guest-rewards program and an umbrella campaign involving six Hilton-owned chains would be awarded in mid-August. For now, those chores remain at FCB.
Y&R's Irvine office led its pitch, with strategic help from New York and creative resources from Chicago, sources said. Irvine is expected to take the lead on managing the account.
