BOSTON Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos has fashioned a newspaper campaign for troubled financial services company Putnam Investments. The ads, which ran yesterday, promised that the Boston-based client will "do whatever necessary to make sure Putnam's integrity is never again compromised."
The effort ran in The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and elsewhere.
Putnam has come under fire of late for alleged trading abuses. A week ago, chief executive Lawrence Lasser was dismissed. The company is currently being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
A client representative called the Hill, Holliday effort part of a larger communications strategy but she declined to say if more ads are planned or if the company will work with the Interpublic Group agency on a long-term basis. "We're taking it one step at a time," said Putnam rep Nancy Fisher. A Hill, Holliday representative did not immediately return calls. Spending was not disclosed.
