He's Wacky; He's The New Ronald

There were some horrified gasps from McDonald's purists two years ago when Fallon McElligott's Arch Deluxe TV spots showed Ronald McDonald boogeying on the dance floor.
But now the chain, which has always been protective of Ronald's family image, is selling "The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald," a series of animated videos created by Klasky Csupo, the folks who produce the Rugrats TV show.
The animated Ronald who appears in "Scared Silly," the first of three planned releases, looks, well, wacky.
TV spots from Leo Burnett, which handles McDonald's kids marketing, support the video, which is available for purchase at restaurants for $3.49.
McDonald's also has a new treat for adults: It's celebrating National Pork Month with a Grilled McPork sandwich at 400 Midwest units. The National Pork Producers Council is chipping in $50,000 toward ads, which DDB Needham Chicago has created. --Scott Hume
