Susan Dubuque of MSI Advertising- Marketing-Public Relations in Richmond, Va., recently received a unique creative kudo in her local market.
Dubuque was honored at the conference of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development of the American Hospital Association for her efforts in raising the awareness of childhood depression.
Her Circle of Distinction Award was presented, in part, for her authorship of two books, A Parent's Survival Guide to Childhood Depression and Kid Power Tactics for Dealing With Depression. The latter was co-written with her 13-year-old son, Nicholas.
It was after Dubuque had successfully dealt with Nicholas' depression that she found there was a dearth of resource materials for families dealing with the problem.
She also has organized the Green Ribbon Power Force to increase the public's awareness of childhood depression. Dubuque has helped build the organization by recruiting peers from the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations.
