CHICAGO – G. Heileman Brewing Co. executive vp/marketing Henry Gerfen said that he expects to talk to 8-12 agencies mainly in Chicago and Minneapolis for the company’s $20 million business. Last week the brewery abruptly pulled its advertising accounts from Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer and Deutsch/Dworin both in New York. Messner handled the Old Style brands and Deutsch handled Colt 45. Gerfen cited distance as being part of the problem, since its top-selling brand Old Style is sold primarily in the Midwest.
