Heil-Brice Retail Advertising, Newport Beach, Calif., has won the ad account of the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers following a review of undisclosed shops, sources said.
Billings are estimated at $1 million.
The team, perennially with one of the NBA's worst records, had partnered with Los Angeles-based Italia/Gal Advertising since 1996.
The win marks a move into a new category for Heil-Brice, which has $60 million in billings and specializes in retail and Hispanic clients. Its roster includes Ralph's Grocery Co., Food 4 Less, ABCO Desert Markets, Factory 2 U and Weis Markets. Its work for the Clippers could involve tie-ins with those clients.
Agency principals declined to comment on the win; Clippers officials were not available at press time, but Heil-Brice's first work for the team--aimed at boosting season ticket sales--is likely to break in July or August, said sources.
