For a city that hasn't felt the pulse of NFL playoff football in a decade, hiring a Super Bowl champion coach is a pretty big deal.
Publicis in Seattle ratchets the city's palpable excitement up a notch in heralding the arrival of Mike Holmgren, ex-Green Bay Packer boss, as head coach of the Seahawks.
A 30-second teaser spot broke last week, giving Washingtonians just a glimpse of Holmgren--specifically, his Super Bowl XXXI ring (shown here). The payoff spot, which rolled out later in the week, completes the picture, as Holmgren enters the city harbor atop a ferry and storms ashore with his new players in tow.
After spending its rookie year on the account giving the team an identity, the agency found it easy to slot Holmgren in as the leader of the hard-working group, said president and executive creative director Gail Anne Grosso.
"He's a proven icon, but he's also a thoughtful man ... who brings out the personality of the players," she said. "The good things we talked about last year have gotten better. It's an evolution, an addition, as is [Holmgren]." --Tim Nudd
