NEW YORK WPP's GroupM has formalized its presence in Canada with the launch of GroupM Canada, and has named David Campbell, co-president of MediaCom Canada, as president and CEO.

Campbell will oversee GroupM Canada's media investment management assets and coordinate joint services through GroupM operating units: MediaCom, Mediaedge:cia, MindShare and Maxus.

Based in Toronto, Campbell said previously he and his counterparts at Mindshare and MEC met informally to collaborate on business in the Canadian market, but an overarching GroupM presence was necessary to strengthen its ties and reach in local media.

"This is a critical move for the development of Group M in our region, and David is the perfect choice for this key assignment," said Mark Goldstein, GroupM North America president and CEO, in a statement.

Campbell, who reports to Goldstein, said his present position within MediaCom would be filled. He retains those duties until a successor is named.
