In what could be the first in a number of departures from Grey Advertising’s creative department, Jim Morrissey has resigned as executive creative director.
A 19-year veteran of Grey, Morrissey led creative efforts for Sprint, Seagram, 3M and Globalstar. He’s taking a position at Telocity, a Cupertino, Calif.-based Internet access provider. The firm is headed by former Sprint executive Patti Manuel, with whom Morrissey worked closely.
“Jim was considered the fair-haired heir apparent to [chief creative officer] Steve Novick,” said a source, who admitted surprise at Morrissey’s departure.
