Grey Hires Shumaker for New Business

NEW YORK Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide has hired Chris Shumaker to head up its new business efforts, the agency confirmed. He will join New York-based Grey later this month.

Shumaker, who has been director of development at Interpublic Group's The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., will become evp, director of development for Grey's North American operations, a new position. He will report to Grey North America chief executive Steve Blamer.

In a statement, Blamer said about Shumaker, "He has the intelligence, energy, connections and style to help take our new business efforts to a whole new level."

Before joining The Martin Agency in 1995, Shumaker was head of marketing communications Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex.

Grey Global is currently up for sale, with WPP Group and Havas seen as the most likely suitors.
