Kite flying may seem a quaint pastime tethered forever to Ben Franklin. But if the American Kitefliers Association has its way, it will seem edgy, cool and, yes, even danger ous. At least in April.

San Diego-based Drasnin Communica tions has been charged with taking kite flying (or “kiting”) to new heights with an aggressive National Kite Month initiative.

The message is simple: It’s not a lazy bones’ sport anymore.

“Kiting is not whimsical, but exciting and fun,” said agency principal Ron Drasnin.
