Liters of free beer (more than 1,000 cases—yum!) that a German brewer is offering to the fans of the first team to beat Bayern Munich in German soccer's first division this season. Bayern is on quite a roll, having won 15 straight league games—the final nine of last season and its first six games this year. A rep for the brewer, Bitburger, told the Bild newspaper last week, "We want to create a bit of excitement. We have nothing against Bayern, but there must be some tension." Second-placed Hamburg SV hosted Bayern over the weekend, after this magazine went to press. The brewer said that if Hamburg were to lose, its fans left disconsolate and thirsty, that it would add another 1,000 liters to the prize—and would continue doing so each week until a team manages to beat the champions.
Strip clubs per 100,000 residents in Oregon, the highest concentration per capita of any state except West Virginia (2.9 per 100,000). Thus, retailer Hot Topic might be onto something with its wildly popular new Oregon-themed T-shirt that carries the slogan, "Come for the fishing. Stay for the strip clubs." Todd Davidson, head of the state's tourism board, has even given his tacit approval to the line. "It starts by encouraging people to come for the fishing, and that's year-round," he says. "I guess the other thing isn't seasonal, either."
