Percent of Americans, both Democrats and Republicans, who said they would respect more and be more likely to vote for a candidate who refused to showcase celebrity backers, according to a new study by The Pere Partnership. The survey of 980 potential voters suggests that most celebrities hurt a campaign more than they help it. But there are a few exceptions: When respondents were asked which celebrity’s endorsement would make them want to vote for a candidate, the top four answers were Oprah Winfrey, Norman Schwarzkopf, Jon Stewart and (get ready for this one) Charles Barkley.
