DALLAS The Tennessee Education Lottery Corp. has recommended Gish Sherwood & Friends to handle the advertising account of the first Tennessee Lottery, the client said.
The Nashville, Tenn.-based agency bested two other finalists: Archer Malmo Tombras, a partnership of Memphis, Tenn., independent archer>malmo and The Tombas Group of Knoxville, Ky.; and the Strategic Marketing Alliance, a partnership made up of Mercatus Communications and Webster & Associates, both in Nashville, and O'Neil Griffin Bodi in Manchester, N.H.
The finalists made presentations before the Nashville-based review board last week.
Although sources have said the two-year contract is worth $18 million, Lottery spokesperson Kym Gerlock said an amount has not yet been determined. She said only that the industry average for lottery marketing is "up to 2 percent of overall sales."
She added that Gish "certainly has a long history of throught expeirence" and scored the highest in the categories by which all agencies were judged.
The shops either declined comment or could not be reached for comment.
