Outdoor lovers often fantasize about nature.
Evan Moser, vice president of marketing for Gorp.com (Great Outdoor Recreation Pages), said that’s the idea behind the first consumer campaign for the Web site, which launched five years ago.
Last July, the Web site hired an ad agency: Mad Dogs & Englishmen.
Print ads break this Friday in USA Today, and will roll out in other publications, such as Men’s Journal and Metro Sports.
The first ad shows a man on a treadmill at the gym in full hiking regalia, including a backpack large enough to hold a sleeping bag.
“Need to get outdoors?” the headline reads, followed by a description of Gorp.com
