Rob Gerds has been named senior consultant at Wanamaker Associates.
Gerds, 40, joins the Atlanta-based consultancy after six years at BaylessCronin, where he served as director of client services and management director.
"Rob brings experience, talent and skill," said Wanamaker chairman Rod Hanlon. "Besides, he was going into the consulting business and we don't need any more competition."
Hanlon, 56, also suggested that Gerds' appointment was part of a "management succession plan" designed to reinvigorate Wanamaker as Hanlon and president Ken Bowes, 65, move toward retirement.
"We spent a good amount of time together," said Gerds. "We both felt good about what was on the table and what I could bring to the table. It was an overwhelming opportunity."
Gerds will help market the firm's agency search, performance evaluation, and contract and fee negotiation services.
"We have managed agency-client relationships from both sides for many years," said Hanlon. "We're objective, we fix problems and identify opportunities."
Gerds has also worked at Foote, Cone & Belding and Hal Riney & Partners, both in San Francisco.
"Our goal is to become a global professional services company," Gerds said.
