NEW YORK — Interpublic Group of Cos. chairman emeritus Phil Geier is stepping down from IPG’s board of directors, along with longtime board member Leif Olsen and Michael Miles, who joined in 1999.

Geier, the former CEO of IPG, said he wanted to give his successor, John Dooner, plenty of room to run the company. The departure also gives Geier, who had been on the board since 1975, the opportunity to pursue other business interests.

Olsen, who had been a board member since 1972, resigned for “health reasons,” Dooner said.
