NEW YORK Beth Comstock has been promoted to chief marketing officer, corporate vice-president of marketing, at General Electric, a new position, the company said.

Comstock, 42, had been corporate vice president of communications and her responsibilities in supervising integrated communications will continue.

She reports to chief executive Jeffrey Immelt, who said in a statement, “We are making GE a more externally focused, market-driven company to better serve our customers and their future needs. While we have made good progress invigorating GE’s commercial efforts, our next step is to drive marketing leadership, in tandem with sales, across the company.”
