Retailer sets out to ‘define what the brand means’ in TV commercials from Y&L

Sporting goods and apparel retailer Galyan’s has increased its marketing budget by more than 50 percent, with plans to spend at least $30 million this year on initiatives that include TV commercials from Young & Laramore, executives said.

The Plainfield, Ind., client will launch an integrated marketing campaign in August in its 17 markets, said Ed Whitehead, Galyan’s svp of marketing.

Y&L in Indianapolis picked up Galyan’s account, previously handled in-house, earlier this year following a review involving a dozen shops, Whitehead said.
