Fuhr Begins McCann Engagement

NEW YORK McCann Erickson said it has tapped Bryan Fuhr for the new position of senior vice president, director of engagement planning, effective immediately.

Fuhr, 34, will report to the Interpublic Group shop's directors of strategic planning, Devika Bulchandani and John Kottman.

Fuhr was most recently a partner, associate director of strategy at WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather in New York, which he joined in 2003, and worked on that shop's American Express, Yahoo, Kodak, Time Warner Cable, Pfizer, Wyeth and Abbott Labs accounts.

At McCann here, he will work on Intel and other accounts, the agency said, and he will be charged with building this discipline and adding staff in the coming months.

For Publicis Groupe's Publicis, he helped create nontraditional marketing plans for the launch of Procter & Gamble's Crest Whitestrips.

In a statement, Fuhr said, "Today's vastly expanded media options make it possible to create a specialized mix of communications that best allows consumers to experience brands and make decisions. I'm excited about working on McCann's portfolio of leading brands and helping design unique communications environments that foster consumer interaction and drive demand."

McCann's other clients include L'Oreal, MasterCard, Wendy's, Microsoft and General Motors.

Fuhr has also worked on the client side, in 1995 at American Express, where he began his career helping to develop and market the Amex Blue card, its Platinum card and Membership Rewards Program. He has also worked at Scient Corporation with clients such as Tylenol, MetLife and Avaya.
