Y&R Veteran to Lead S.F.'s "Sleeping Giant'
SAN FRANCISCO-Frankel's San Francisco office, which has grown to more than 80 employees, has named Carleton Prince its new president.
Prince, 52, gained marketing and advertising experience at Young & Rubicam and Foote, Cone & Belding, both San Francisco, where he focused on technology clients. He replaces Rick Bolinger, who is returning to the marketing agency's Chicago headquarters.
The agency oversees promotions and other services for Visa, Nestle's confections and Dreyer's ice cream.
"In the last year, our San Francisco clients' needs in the areas of interactive marketing, direct marketing and entertainment and sports marketing have tripled," said Dan Rose, Frankel chief operating officer.
"Carleton has served in lead management in direct and digital marketing [as well as] ads and promotions, and he has spent 17 years of his career in San Francisco," Rose said. "His strengths will be a great asset to the office."
In his most recent post, director of integrated communications at Y&R, Prince worked on positioning and strategic planning for Sony, Novell and Adobe. He is expected to bring more tech-oriented business-to-business assignments to Frankel and help attract new talent.
"Frankel is a sleeping giant in San Francisco," said Prince. The agency's strength, he said, "is to get deeply involved in a client's business, even to define areas of growth."
Opened about four years ago to help handle Visa, the office has nearly doubled in size in the last year, primarily from new assignments from existing clients.
