Fox Severs Ties With 'Fling'

Fox Broadcasting Co. is no longer flirting with "Fling," the Paramount Network Television drama that received a 13-episode commitment from Fox.

The romantic dramedy (formerly known as "When I Grow Up") was given an early order by Fox in September to have the episodes completed as a hedge against the possibility of a writers strike. With "Fling," sources said Fox was unhappy with the creative direction of the show about two private eyes who specialize in investigating cheating spouses.

After making an effort to revamp the show, created by Glenn Gordon Caron ("Moonlighting"), Fox decided to cut its losses and pull out.
