CHICAGO Home product manufacturer Formica has named Olson its lead advertising agency, according to the shop.
The Minneapolis independent won the account without a formal review.
"We needed an agency that had a proven track record of driving business through focused strategy, breakthrough creative and innovative marketing tactics. We found that agency in Olson," said Mike Fischer, president of Formica Corp., in a statement. "They totally understand our business needs and our message—that Formica offers more than just surfacing products, we offer surfacing solutions—and we're confident that they'll bring that message to consumers in a fresh and compelling way."
The shop will handle creative, planning, media, interactive and public relations for the Warren, N.J., company. Formica's previous agency was Interpublic Group's Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis. An agency executive said the account had dwindled to project work and the contract had not been renewed.
Billings were not disclosed. Formica spent less than $2 million on advertising through September 2005, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
