NEW YORK -- Ad technology company, Advertising.com, has appointed Doug McFarland, the former president of Jupiter Media Metrix's measurement division, and Ken Evans, the former vice president of worldwide sales for ZDNet, to its executive team.
In the newly created post of president and general manager of publisher business, McFarland will direct Advertising.com's publisher business, which currently has about 2,000 clients. He also will serve as the company's senior executive in its New York office. Most recently, McFarland oversaw the Web measurement division at Jupiter Media Metrix in New York from 1997-2001.
Assigned to Advertising.com's Baltimore headquarters, Evans will lead sales and marketing efforts and will continue to develop the company's performance-based Web, e-mail and search-engine services for its advertising clients as an executive vice president. He assumes most of the duties formerly held by svp of sales and marketing, Dick Porter, who left in March. Most recently, Evans consulted for a couple of startups in Massachusetts. Before that, he was at ZDNet in San Francisco from 1996-2000.
Both new hires will report to Gar Richlin, chief operating officer of Advertising.com.
