CHICAGO Charles B. “Chuck” Jones, one of the founders of the consultancy today known as Jones Lundin Beals, died last Friday following a brief illness, the company said.

Jones was 84. He worked at Chicago agencies including Leo Burnett and Kenyon & Eckhardt, before starting Charles B. Jones Associates in 1972. There he helped develop cost-based agency compensation plans, now the norm but at the time contrary to the prevalent system of commissions, according to JLB.
