Publicis in New York has hired Diane Flynn as executive principal, director of broadcast production, charging her with building a more collaborative process between the broadcast production and creative departments.
Flynn, a 27-year agency veteran, will oversee about 10 staffers in her new post, which she starts today. She replaces Barbara Russo, director of broadcast production, creative services, who left in January. Flynn reports to David Corr and Lance Paull, co-presidents and executive creative directors at Publicis, who will assume Russo's creative responsibilities.
"Diane will act as a catalyst in the department to get producers involved in the creative process early," said Corr. Paull noted that "the combination of creative talents and organizational skills" made Flynn the right candidate for the job.
"I want [broadcast production] to enhance the good work that the creative department is bringing to us," said Flynn.
During the past four years, Flynn has freelanced for shops such as J. Walter Thompson and DDB, working on Merrill Lynch, Kellogg's and Dial Soap, among others. From 1995-97, she was svp, director of broadcast at the former Merkley Newman Harty in New York, where she helped create the broadcast department after the shop landed its first TV-oriented client, BellSouth.
Prior to Merkley, she was at Foote, Cone & Belding in Chicago, working on Coors and Kraft, among others. Before that, she spent 17 years at Young & Rubicam in New York, London and Paris.
Publicis in New York claims $400 million in billings and has about 130 staffers. Its clients include L'Oréal, FujiFilm and Citizen.
