The power of choice is the theme in phase one of Fitzgerald + Co.’s breaking multimedia campaign for the Virginia State Corporation Commission.

The five-year, $30 million effort targets utility consumers in Virginia, which will begin deregulating gas and electricity Jan. 1.

Radio, television and print messages by the Atlanta shop educate residents about the process, driving them to the commission’s Web site or call center, where they can order a consumer guide.

“The concept of deregulation seems simple, but there’s a number of things people need to understand,” said Pam Piligian, group account director at Fitzgerald.
