DirecTV viewers this fall are seeing a new side to characters from three classic movies. Scenes from Airplane!, The Karate Kid and Animal House become plugs for the cable service’s pay-per-view channels in a campaign that broke recently from Deutsch L.A.

In three spots running only on DirecTV, Leslie Nielsen, Pat Morita and Kayrn Butler appear in moments from their respective movies, but suddenly stop to look directly at the camera.

The spots seek to remind DirecTV viewers that they may order mov ies on pay-per-view channels from Blockbuster.
