CHICAGO?Mark Figliulo, chief creative officer of Young & Rubicam here, has been promoted to managing partner of the agency.
Figliulo, 38, was hired by the agency in November 1999 and remains in charge of the creative department but will take on more of the day-to-day management responsibilities for the agency. The managing partner post had been vacant.
Earlier this month Kary McIlwain, Y&R?s COO and president, was promoted to chief executive officer and Howard Breen, who had led the agency, was named chairman and chief executive officer of the agency?s North America Regions.
McIlwain, in a statement, credited Figliulo?s creative leadership for the agency?s recent success in being assigned the lead on branding work for Sears, Roebuck and Co. and winning a new products assignment for Miller Brewing.
Prior to joining Y&R, Figliulo had a stint as a commercial director for Dark Light Pictures, West Hollywood, Calif. Before that, he was at Leo Burnett for 12 years, where he eventually became an executive vice president.
