FCB Worldwide has acquired the Italian direct-marketing agency Compagnia del Marketing Diretto, which will join its interactive unit, FCBi.

FCB also has taken a minority stake in its FCB Slovakia affiliate. The agency did not disclose terms of either transaction Friday.

"Europe continues to be a critically important area for our ongoing global expansion," said Brendan Ryan, chief executive of FCB, a unit of True North Communications. "And with these two deals, we're focused on two primary areas of this market--digital marketing and central Europe."

Established in 1987, the Italian shop employs about 20 people and serves clients such as the financial publication Il Sole 24 Ore, Save the Children, L'Expresso and Credito Italiano.

Staffed similarly, FCB Slovakia has clients including SC Johnson, Compaq, Beiersdorf and Siemens.
