Like an ATM on steroids, an oversized camera-equipped TV monitor has been pestering fans at L.A.’s Staples Center for their two cents on L.A.-related sports questions. (Sample: “What would be a proper mascot for the Lakers?”)

The 13-foot-high kiosk is Fox Sports Net’s Viewer’s Voice Box (VVB) and for the past few months it’s been capturing the wit and wisdom of those passing by in the corridor (no more than 30 seconds each, please!). The best of the lot find their way into on-air promos.

“We created this opportunity in order to tie fans into the promotion,” explained Bill Bergofin, the regional cable network’s vp of marketing.
