CHICAGO Fallon is no longer handling projects for Sony North America after working with the client for less than a year, the agency confirmed.

The shop had won personal audio projects for the electronics company in June.

"We had a project and we couldn't come together financially," said agency chairman Pat Fallon.

Fallon would not elaborate on the specifics of the financial issues. The Publicis Groupe agency in Minneapolis will continue to handle Sony in Europe and projects in Tokyo.

Fallon won projects for Sony's personal audio products and the Sony Connect online music store in June after a review that was expected to be a consolidation of the marketer's $100-125 million account. Instead, the company tapped three agencies: Fallon, independent agency Bagby & Co. in Chicago and Havas' McKinney + Silver in Durham, N.C., to handle its work. Bagby and McKinney are expected to continue working with the company.

Sources said Fallon had completed interactive work for the Connect music store, but it was unknown if that work would ever be seen.

The client could not immediately be reached for comment.
