NEW YORK Veteran media planner Francis Anderson, who most recently was a connections director at TBWA\Chiat\Day, is joining Fallon in New York as its top media executive.
Anderson, who starts at Fallon next month in the role of connections planning director, fills the void left by the departure of media director Mary Gerzema in March. Gerzema is now a group communications director at Interpublic Group's Universal McCann in New York.
"We hired Francis because he is what I would call a classically trained media veteran," said Anne Bologna, president of Fallon's New York office. "But he also is among a small group of pioneers in new media thinking."
Anderson spent four years at Omnicom Group's TBWA\C\D, working on brands such as Cadbury, Kmart, A&E and GNC. As a connections director, he forged media strategies that covered all areas of the marketing spectrum, from advertising and public relations to direct marketing, events, interactive and point-of-purchase materials.
Earlier in his career, Anderson was a media group head at London shop Pattison Horswell Durden. At Publicis Groupe's Fallon, he will report to North American media director Lisa Seward.
