It may be the first time 60 ad executives have been caught together without a single cell phone among them. They willingly relinquished them outside the White House last Monday in return for a chance to meet George W. Bush.

The event was part of the Ad Council’s Washington Conference, held once each administration. Admen and women such as David Bell, John Dooner, Tim Love and Linda Wolf got a private tour through the president’s home as a pianist played melodies ranging from Gershwin to Enya.
