DALLAS Schlotzsky's sandwich chain has named Greg Regian, former CEO and president of Regian & Wilson Advertising, chief marketing officer, the company said.

Emerging from bankruptcy in 2004, the Austin, Texas-based restaurant chain is in the midst of a national ad campaign created by Dallas independent agency The Ward Group. The campaign includes a 15-second and two 30-second TV commercials, the client said.

For 26 years, Regian headed an advertising and public relations shop that grew to annual billings of $30 million in 1998, when it was sold to Grey Global Group. After leaving the agency, Regian headed marketing efforts for homebuilder D.R. Horton.

"His combination of proven food marketing history, his experience with large franchise groups and his entrepreneurial background makes Greg uniquely qualified to lead our marketing efforts," said Schlotzsky's president Bob Barnes.

A graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Regian recently led the formation of a student ad agency at TCU's School of Advertising. He is past director of the 10th district American Advertising Federation.
