EMI Music has inked a licensing deal with pressplay, an online music service. Under terms of the agreement, pressplay will add EMI's titles to its online catalog, which currently includes titles from Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. Terms for the deal were not disclosed.
The non-exclusive agreement establishes pressplay as the largest subscription-based music catalog available for streaming and downloading online. The pressplay service is expected to launch this fall and will offer on-demand access to digital music through affiliate partners such as Yahoo!, MSN and MP3.com.
Pressplay is an equally held joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group (a unit of Vivendi Universal), and is based in New York and Los Angeles.
TERRA LYCOS ENHANCES SHOPPING CHANNELS WITH DEALTIME:
DealTime, a comparison shopping search engine, has formed a partnership with portal Terra Lycos. As part of the deal, major portions of Lycos' shopping channel will be outsourced to DealTime, including the shopping search engine, product categories, shopping tools and merchant relationships.
As a result of the partnership, Lycos receives comparison-shopping technology, reduced operating costs and increased revenue, and DealTime's merchant network gains access to millions of shoppers that visit the Terra Lycos Network each month.
DealTime is a privately held company, venture-backed by strategic and financial partners, including Bertelsmann, AOL Time Warner, Bank of America, Singapore Telecom, Bain Capital and Nomura International, among others.
BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE EXTENDS EXCLUSIVE SPONSORSHIP OF STUDIO ONE'S "DRIVING TODAY":
Bridgestone/Firestone, an international manufacturer of tires and rubber products, has extended its exclusive sponsorship of "Driving Today," an Internet program created and distributed by Studio One Networks, through the calendar year of 2002.
Bridgestone/Firestone and its Web site TireSafety.com originally launched its sponsorship of "Driving Today" earlier this year. Studio One's program distribution partners for "Driving Today" include AOL Auto Channel, AOL.com Autos, Autobytel, Automobiles.com, CarPrices.com, Motor Cities, Racing Information Systems, Netscape Autos, NetZero Autos, Motor Sports Forum and Autoswalk, among others.
