Last week, when I returned to the office after Christmas, I rifled through the piles of holiday cards on my desk. Among the traditional well wishes, one stood out. Stuffed inside a plain-looking card was a plastic sprig of mistletoe. Big red type explained that it was to be used to “Kiss the year goodbye.” My sentiments exactly.

I’m certainly not the only one anxious to bid good riddance to 2001, to flip the calendar to reveal a brand new year, a new beginning.
