NEW YORK–Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, the largest privately held agency left in the public relations sector, has been in preliminary acquisition talks with several suitors, sources said last week.

Daniel J. Edelman, the founder and chairman of the Chicago-based pr agency, confirmed last week that Edelman has been approached in the last few months by two suitors, which he declined to name. However, he said the shop is not in any talks and that he has no plans to sell.
