NEW YORK Tom Ajello, Agency.com's ecd in New York, has become the latest executive to leave the shop, the company confirmed.
Ajello, 30, is currently on paternity leave after the birth of his first child over the weekend, and Agency.com is negotiating terms with a replacement from outside the agency.
"It was just sort of time," Ajello said. "I feel like I've had an amazing run, building an awesome crew there and amassing what I believe is the industry's best creative department."
His last official day is April 15, but he said he would stay on to help during the transition to a new ecd if needed. He wouldn't say what his future plans are, only that he is "at a point where I need to run and take giant strides."
Ajello joined the shop in September 2004 from Modem Media. Agency.com's New York office works for clients like British Airways, Discovery Networks and E*Trade.
Agency.com has suffered a string of high-level departures since ex-CEO Don Scales resigned in February 2006 over strategic differences with TBWA. The departures since new CEO David Eastman took the reins include the managing partners of the New York and San Francisco offices and media director Scott Symonds. Several other Agency.com staffers followed Scales to iCrossing, a search agency.
Agency.com was widely criticized for releasing a video on YouTube as part of its pitch for the Subway interactive account in August. Ajello played a prominent role, uttering its most memorable line: "If we roll, we roll big." Agency.com subsequently dropped out of the review.
