EC Cubed is searching for an agency to handle creative chores for its national advertising account. The e-business software developer had worked with Allen & Gerritsen on a project basis.
The Westborough, Mass., company has a short list of three firms and expects to reach a decision by the end of November, said EC Cubed manager of corporate communications Andrea Dumont.
Dumont declined to comment on the budget, but sources have pegged the account at $5 million.
Carat Freeman, Newton, Mass., is handling media placement and that relationship will continue, said Dumont.
Allen & Gerritsen, Watertown, Mass., began working with the client in March following a review that also included Harpell, Maynard, Mass., as well as Boston shops Partners & Simons and TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group. However, the relationship ended after A&G created a logo, built a brand platform and developed the tagline "Achieving perpetual innovation," said agency chief executive Paul Allen.
"I think they're a great client for a smaller agency who does more product-driven programs than branding stuff," said Allen.
Dumont declined to comment on why the relationship with Allen & Gerritsen ended.
