Earthlink Launches Premium Sports Package

NEW YORK Earthlink today introduced a $9.95 per month premium sports product that combines content from Nascar.com, MLB.com and SportingNews.com, among other properties.

The Atlanta-based Internet service provider has teamed up with Synacor, a Buffalo, N.Y., technology specialist, to deliver the bundled online service.

Called Earthlink Premium Sports, the package includes content like live coverage of more than 250 Nascar race events; Major League Baseball game-day audio, post-game highlights and condensed games; National Hockey League game profiles and summaries; and other content from Web publishers including Rivals.com and Motor Trend.

Other online services, such as RealNetworks, also offer premium sports packages. Last month Microsoft inked a multi-year deal with MLB Advanced Media that gives subscribers to MSN's premium broadband service access to live, archived and condensed Major League Baseball games [IQ Daily Briefing, March 23].
