BOSTON DVDPlay said it has hired Thomas Taber & Drazen for advertising and marketing chores.
The client in Campbell, Calif., has created automated DVD rental kiosks that offer 40-60 new releases each week for a total of 500 movies. Consumers use their debit or credit cards to rent the films.
The account was awarded based on the agency's understanding of the category and reputation in consumer retail marketing. Billings were not disclosed.
"TT&D will help DVDPlay further entrench its brand, as well as deepen the company's market penetration and grow its DVD rental usage," said agency CEO Brian Thomas.
Currently, DVDPlay has more than 1,200 kiosks located throughout the U.S. and Canada. They are located mainly in Safeway, Vons, Dominick's, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Kroger grocery stores, as well as Wawa convenience stores and on military bases. To date, DVDPlay has rented over 8 million DVDs.
TT&D is an independent ad shop in Denver. Other clients include Colorado Farm Bureau Insurance, Great West Healthcare and Park City Mountain Resort.
