DraftFCB Refines User Experience

NEW YORK Interpublic Group's DraftFCB here has named Jackson Young its first director of user experience architecture. He joined the shop this month.

Young, 43, previously held a similar position, director of user experience design, at MTV Networks' digital division. He was in charge of refining online content for the cable network and its Viacom sibling VH1.

DraftFCB expects him to define consumer experiences across multiple platforms, including the Web, mobile phones, kiosks, interactive TV and emerging categories.

He will report to the New York shop's digital practice leaders, ecd Timothy Bruns and executive director Brad Kay.

Kay said user experience specialists can serve as "the glue that binds our core disciplines together including strategy, creative, CRM, media and technology." He added that the agency is continuing to invest in that area.

Before MTV, Young was director of information architecture at New York shop Rare Medium and worked on accounts such as XM Satellite Radio, Goldman Sachs, Standard & Poor's and Cablevision. He was also a lead strategist for Dennis Interactive, serving clients such as Walt Disney, Oxygen.com and Thompson Financial.

His other Web experience includes various design projects for museum exhibits, videogames and children's educational software.
