CHICAGO Draft links electronics retailer Circuit City and Pizza Hut in a new online, in-store and direct-mail holiday promotional campaign.
The Chicago shop's effort, which incorporates the company's "Just what I needed" tagline, grants Pizza Hut delivery customers a coupon for $5 off any $25 purchase at Circuit City. The promotion also allows consumers to enter a contest for a year's supply of pizza and a high-definition television.
With the promotion, the Richmond, Va.-based retailer named the Interpublic Group shop its promotional agency of record. Draft had been working for Circuit City on a project basis since June, according to an agency representative.
"We are looking forward to working with Circuit City on this new promotion and are excited to add another leading retailer as a new client," said Yvonne Furth, president and chief operating officer of Draft Chicago in a statement. "We're hitting the ground running, having already initiated research and developed strategy that should result in a very successful promotion. We're looking forward to developing many more."
Earlier this year, Circuit City named independent Doner in Southfield, Mich., its lead advertising agency after a review. The shop in September launched a campaign that used the Cars tune, "Just What I Needed," as a tagline.
Circuit City spent more than $200 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. The Pizza Hut promotion runs from Nov. 21 to Dec. 21.
