CHICAGO American Equity Mortgage has tapped Doner to handle its advertising account after a review, according to the shop. Sources indicated the account could be worth $40 million in billings.
Duties on the account will include strategic and creative advertising, including television, direct mail, radio and online, as well as media planning and buying. The independent agency will handle the account at its Southfield, Mich., headquarters.
"We are thrilled to be working with American Equity Mortgage and look forward to the opportunity to unlock the potential of the brand and continue to grow the business," said Doner CEO Alan Kalter, in a statement. The account was previously handled in-house.
Contenders in the review were not disclosed, nor were billings. The St. Louis-based company spent $17 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Sources, however, said that below-the-line work could push billings to the equivalent of a $40-50 million account.
