BOSTON–PNC Bank has selected Doner to succeed Arnold on its estimated $30 million advertising account.

Pittsburgh-based PNC chose Doner, Southfield, Mich., following discussions with undisclosed agencies. PNC worked briefly with Doner in the late-1990s. Though by all accounts that relationship ended badly, executive-level marketing changes at PNC apparently healed any rift.

Arnold’s office in McLean, Va., had resigned the business so that the Havas-owned agency could take on added work from Citizens Bank. Citizens recently announced the acquisition of retail assets of Mellon Bank.
