Direct Mail Choice Of Exterminator Won't Bug Thompson

Orkin Exterminating is quietly talking to agencies about undertaking a direct mail initiative, sources said.
The Atlanta-based insect exterminator is holding a closed review for the business, which will not supplant agency of record of J. Walter Thompson, according to sources.
Billings for the new assignment will be in the $1-2 million range.
When called for comment, JWT executive vice president Jeffrey White was in a meeting with an Orkin representative, an employee at the Atlanta agency acknowledged. White later declined to comment about Orkin, other than to say the relationship between JWT and its client has not changed.
Orkin's vice president of marketing, Steve Danuser, did not return calls at press time. --T.W. Sieber
